About the Timex Ironman Triathlon

The appeal of the Ironman Triathlon is right there on its face: clear information, accessible controls and a design centred on timing. This is not a dress watch borrowing a sporting name. Its prominent Start and Lap/Reset buttons, protective-looking bezel and clearly marked 8-lap memory give it a distinct identity as a practical digital sports watch.

As a vintage piece, it also offers something beyond utility. The combination of bold lettering, contrasting colours and a branded fabric strap has a wonderfully straightforward, old-school feel. Design & Dial

The silver-tone case sits beneath a contrasting black bezel, with blue accents around the display and on the controls. Four visible bezel screws reinforce its rugged appearance, while the broad front-mounted buttons make the layout instantly recognisable. The textured blue Lap/Reset button provides a particularly distinctive detail.

The digital display presents large time numerals with day and date information above. Its yellow-green appearance in ambient light becomes a vivid turquoise glow when INDIGLO is activated, as shown in the photographs. The face carries Ironman Triathlon branding alongside Shock Resistant and 8 Lap Memory markings.

The original strap brings the design together: dark woven fabric, blue sections near the case, a Timex-branded patch and the Ironman emblem. Its adjustable fold-back fastening keeps the look practical and informal, while retaining the watch's original sporting character.

The bezel and stainless-steel caseback are marked 200 metres water resistant. This records the watch's marked rating, not a guarantee of its present water resistance. No current pressure-test result is supplied, so it is not being offered with a promise of suitability for swimming or diving.

The watch works perfectly, including INDIGLO, as confirmed during inspection by Bezel & Hide. The exact production year and full retail reference have not been independently established, so neither is guessed here.

Condition

Very good vintage condition and perfect working order. This is a pre-loved watch with signs of wear consistent with its age, not a new or unworn example. Marks, scratches and wear may be present across the case, bezel, display surface, caseback and original strap.
