Swatch Scuba 200 SDZ100 — 1994 Seoul Olympic Commemorative, Swiss Quartz Diver, Sold Naked
Here at Bezel & Hide, we believe a great watch speaks for itself. The Swatch Scuba 200 SDZ100 is a genuinely special piece — a limited commemorative edition released in 1994 to mark the legacy of the 1988 Seoul Olympic Games, and one of the most visually distinctive Swatch divers ever produced. A fully skeletonized dial that puts the Swiss quartz movement on full display, a translucent pale green unidirectional diving bezel with bold blue minute numerals, and Swatch’s renowned 200-metre water resistance specification make this far more than a novelty. It’s offered at an honest market price for this model. This is a naked sale — no box, no papers — but the original white silicone strap with white pin buckle and keeper is fitted and included.
About the Swatch Scuba 200 SDZ100
The Swatch Scuba range was Swatch’s answer to the dive watch — a genuinely water-resistant, ISO-rated diver built from translucent plastic, Swiss quartz, and bold graphic design. The Scuba 200 series achieved a remarkable 200-metre water resistance rating from what is essentially a plastic watch, cementing its status as one of the most technically impressive — and fun — dive watches of its era. The SDZ100 was released in 1994 as a commemorative edition honouring the 1988 Seoul Summer Olympic Games — a connection to Olympic history that adds genuine collector interest to an already desirable reference. At 32 years old, this is now a vintage piece, and early Swatch Scuba references in good working condition are increasingly sought-after.
Design & Dial
The dial is fully skeletonized and transparent — the flat plastic/acrylic crystal offers an unobstructed view straight through to the Swiss quartz movement, electronic circuit board, and copper coil beneath. It’s a window into the machine, which makes this watch endlessly fascinating to look at. Surrounding the skeleton dial is a ring of green circular hour index dots. The hands are black and blue-accented for the hour and minute, with a slim black central sweep seconds hand tipped with a blue circular pip. The Swatch signature is visible on the movement itself. The unidirectional rotating diving bezel is translucent pale green-yellow plastic with bold blue minute numerals (5 to 55) and a distinctive green triangle marker at 12 o’clock. The case is translucent / clear plastic resin, measuring 38.0mm in diameter with a 41.7mm lug-to-lug as confirmed by caliper, and approximately 12.5mm in thickness. The case has developed the warm yellow-green patina characteristic of aged Swatch plastic — authentic and expected on a 32-year-old piece. The crystal is flat plastic/acrylic. The display case back is also translucent, exposing the movement components from the rear as well as the front.
Movement
Powered by a Swiss Quartz movement — battery-powered, accurate, and entirely in keeping with the transparent design brief. Battery type: 312 / SR736SW (1.55V). Water resistance: 200 metres / 20 ATM / 656 feet — a full diver specification, remarkable for a plastic-cased watch. Country of Origin: Switzerland — Swiss Made.
Condition
This Swatch Scuba 200 SDZ100 presents in Good pre-owned condition. The watch is fully functional — the quartz movement runs accurately with the seconds hand sweeping correctly. The translucent case and rotating bezel show age-consistent wear over three decades — the plastic has developed its expected warm patina, and there are minor surface marks consistent with honest use and age. The dial and movement are clean and clearly visible through the crystal. The white silicone strap is in good condition with no significant cracking or deformation.
