About the Certina 1888
Certina has been producing quality Swiss timepieces since 1888 — hence the name on the dial. Part of the Swatch Group, Certina sits in the upper-accessible tier of Swiss watchmaking, known for producing reliable, elegant watches that punch well above their price point. The 1888 collection is Certina's classic dress range — understated, refined, and built to last. This ladies' model is a particularly elegant example, with its two-tone case and clean white dial making it an effortlessly versatile piece.
Design & Dial
The white dial carries gold Roman numerals and matching gold baton indices, with slender gold hands and a date window at 3 o'clock. The "CERTINA 1888" branding sits neatly above centre, with a small "20m" water resistance note at 6 o'clock. The round stainless steel case measures 27.4mm wide × 6.9mm thick, featuring a polished gold-tone bezel ring and gold-tone crown — a classic two-tone combination that pairs beautifully with both casual and formal wear. The sapphire crystal sits clean above the dial. The watch is fitted with a Hirsch black leather strap with a gold-tone pin buckle.
Movement
Powered by a Swiss quartz movement, the watch is running well and keeping good time. The caseback confirms sapphire crystal and water resistance to 50 metres — reassuring specs for a dress watch of this size. The 316L stainless steel case construction ensures long-term durability.
Condition
Good. The watch is in good condition and fully functional. There is some wear to the leather strap consistent with use, and light marks on the case from normal everyday wear. The dial and crystal are clean.
